Riders who can't decide between a stiff freeride binding and a soft park setup usually end up looking at something like the Salomon Hologram. The mid-flex slot is where versatility lives, and the Hologram has earned its keep with Salomon's park team season after season. It's built on Shadow Fit construction, running an asymmetric highback and tuned suspension to deliver precision in turns and comfort when you're not turning. The result is a binding that performs nearly anywhere on the mountain without committing you to one style.

Why we like it:

The asymmetric 3D Minima Highback follows the shape of your calf instead of fighting it, which sounds like a small thing until you spend a full day strapped in. Combined with Shadow Fit, this binding rides smaller and more responsive than its mid-flex rating suggests.

Who it's for:

Park riders who venture out into the rest of the mountain, all-mountain riders who like spinning off side hits, and intermediate riders looking for one binding that does it all will land here. The mid-flex keeps it accessible for progressing riders without underwhelming advanced ones, and it pairs naturally with directional-twin and true-twin board shapes alike.

Highlights:

Start with the asymmetric 3D Minima Highback, which is what most Hologram riders notice first: a 12 degree pre-rotated shape with geometry tuned to follow your calf rather than your binding's frame. Underneath it, the Shadow Fit baseplate uses a flexible heel cup and a Kevlar wire to route energy directly to the board, essentially closing the gap between your boot and the topsheet. The chassis is built from 45 percent fiberglass nylon composite and carries the toolless toe ramp, IMS-cushioned Universal Disc, and Power Hook needed for Burton Channel mounting. Straps run Power Lite at the ankle and Ultra-Fit at the toe, with MicroMax and toolfree strap adjustments throughout. The footbed is canted with a Response Pad and Supreme Full EVA cushioning underneath, and the ratchets are MP Ratchet with aluminum buckle levers.

Things to consider:

The Hologram is squarely a mid-flex binding, so dedicated freeride chargers will want the stiffer Highlander, and pure jib-focused park riders may prefer the softer District. Three sizes (S/M/L) handle the standard adult run.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Sizes true to boot size. Small fits US Men 4 through 7 and US Women 4 through 8. Medium covers US Men 7.5 through 10 and US Women 8.5 through 11.5. Large covers US Men 10.5 through 13.5. Mounts on Universal Disc with Unite Disc compatibility, so it fits Burton Channel as well as the standard 2x4 and 4x4 patterns.
